So there!
Okay, it wasn’t perfect (as I didn’t have my camera with me nor bought a PS-t-shirt. Was there even any?), but atmosphere in the front row was friendly and fun. My accomodation was great too, thanks to my host-roommie.
Same time next year?

I was supposed to tell you about my secret life as a dirty jazzer BUT.
Yesterday I found out that Manic Street Preachers are coming to Oulu’s Qstock.
That is beyond awesome! So I’m definitely going there.
(I might even tell Provinssirock to funk off for not having a single Brit act yet! Bastards)
About Pori, well, it’s certainly cool festival. Not so much drunk teenagers as drunk thirty-fortysomethings! Been there in 2000, 2004 and 2006. This year’s legendary geezers are Santana and Bob Geldof, so why not.
(But OMGWTFMSP! Got to draw a proper entry about them. )

Hello it’s us again! Been really busy this week, with real life, not my usual arsing around in the Internets/sleeping/filling NME’s crosswords and waiting for something exciting to happen. But here we are again and.. that’s pretty much all about it.
(Oh, and I’m going to see some legendary geezer in June. Shoud be fun, eh?)

Okay, this isn’t the promised epic entry yet. But something. It’s, er, nice to be back. Yeah.

Sorry folks (you two native English-speakers out there), only my fellow Finns (if even them) will get this. Really, you’re not missing anything, just bad puns.
I’m once again mocking my hometown boys (it’s not that they deserve it or anything but I’m all for cheap jokes.) and the last “artist” is a tribute to Rockhuora (update more often, you slag!).

Let Down

Maybe it’s too early to judge the whole week (come on it’s Wednesday..), but so what. The only music-related thing that made me happy this week was Depeche Mode’s Violator. On cassette! Found it while going through my sister’s stash.
Back to today’s comic (yes, I actually drew it just a moment ago. Looks like it as well.) and the issues it’s about. What. The Hell! Many of my friends seem happy and are SO going to Provinssi/Ruisrock, but I don’t remember ever being this sad because of the artists announced. Or more likely, the lack of acts I’d like to see.
(Why the token Canadian band is always Danko Jones? Arcade Fire would be much more interesting.)
So if Finland’s festival scene makes me all depressed, why don’t I go to, let’s say, Roskilde then? (Bloody Danes got Radiohead! Band of Horses and Holy Fuck as well. I’m not a proper fan of those two yet but definitely interested.) Well I sure would love to, but it’s expensive and just getting there would take too much time. (In case I get a job for summer, you see. It’s easier to go to Seinäjoki or Turku for the weekend and get back on monday than get out of the country.) Also for such a big trip I should’ve started making arrangements already.
And if all that would work out, I still don’t have the most important festival accessory, a friend or two to go with! Not saying that my friends are piss-poor or not into the music I like, but..
And now for something I made for a friend of mine: Mix CD of the most insane “music” I have on my computer. The title stands for CRAZY SHIT and that’s exactly what the whole disc is full of. The artwork has nothing to do with the contents of the cd, except that hip “I am so unique and indie with my vintage looks and stupid black helmet hair and flat ballerina shoes and tunic and leggings and blahblah” girls probably couldn’t stand listening to it.
..Okay, even I had hard time compiling it but so what.

And here’s the tracklisting.
That’s all for now.

Yeah, blah.
Good Ruisrock news tomorrow? Please? (Also, more Provinssi announcements at Wednesday. )
And IWATSW were awesome. Going to see them again in April, oh yes.

Blah blah blah blah IT’S MY BIRTHDAY so shut up! I hope the good Ruisrock folks give me a nice present next week. Even just one of my dear darlings would do! (And let’s be frank, I have many dear darling-bands so it couldn’t be that hard, huh?)
Yeah, 2007 could’ve been a blast, with Gogol Bordello’s return, The Flaming Lips and The Horrors. (I don’t like them but it would’ve been interesting to see their skinny legs in real life!)
But what happened was a schedule change (Eugene and his merry gypsies went to accompany Madonna at Live Earth and I only had ticket for Friday) and nasty case of tonsillitis (or whatever it was) that ruined my weekend.
For the record, Provinssirock has had its moments every year I’ve attended.
The Ark, John Cale and Gnarls Barkley (yes!) in 2006, Scissor Sisters, The Go! Team and the amazing Patti Smith in 2007. (The View and Amy W both cancelled their Provinssi gigs that year. Well, at least I didn’t have to make the choice between The View and Ninja’s posse then.)
Oh and Ankkarock? They reveal their plans in April. Maybe this year they’d have something that would interest me? (I still hate myself for not going in 2005. Franz bloody Ferdinand were there!)
For now, this one’s optimistic.
